Geoffrey Irwin studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Martin Outram and then historical viola with Jane Rogers at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He has played with several leading period-instrument orchestras, including Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, English Baroque Soloists, Orchestra Révolutionnaire et Romantique, and the Gabrielli Consort.

He teaches the violin and viola at several schools in Enfield, including The Latymer School.
